Summer has been very slow and there is few news on what Jason is doing these days. He’s been very quiet on Twitter too as many of you may have seen – not tweeting since June. He did however tweet yesterday following all the congratulatory tweets he got for his 33rd birthday! Let’s hope he keeps his promise and keeps us a little more updated from now on 😉

Edit: He just tweeted us promising some news! 🙂

GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Dr. Matt Hunter might be spending his days behind bars, but his former portrayer,Jason Cook, has been globetrotting as part of his efforts to create a meaningful, unscripted program called LifeCHANGE. Together with his partners, Arianne Zucker (Nicole, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), her brother, Todd Zucker, and Steve Fenske, he traveled to Middleburg, South Africa, recently to collaborate with Africa Rising (which was founded by two grandsons of former President Nelson Mandela) and The Thirst Project. While there, the group put two young people from America and two from South Africa through their LifeCHANGE Leadership Program. Then they took the participants to Swaziland where they had an opportunity to help improve local access to clean drinking water. “I had always done charity work before and outreach projects with my church while growing up,” offers Cook, who is serving as both director and executive producer of the show. “I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this project.”

We’re sad to announce that Jason is leaving General Hospital. We’d like to wish him the best of luck in his future projects! 🙂

Jason Cook, who joined GH in 2008 as Matt, is leaving the soap next month. The actor already has a slew of projects lined up to keep him busy. “I was going to have to take several months off the show for all these other things I’m working on,” he reports. “One would have been this summer, to do LifeCHANGE [his project with Arianne Zucker, Nicole, DAYS] and other shoots, as well as my new cooking show, CHOP THIS. It’s an on-location cooking show with a different restaurant chef showing us a couple of recipes each week. It’s going to start online at chopthis.com. If Genreful [his short film with co-star Bradford Anderson, Spinelli] gets funded, I have that to do, too. So, I am stepping away for the time being. There is no talk about me coming back, but I was going to have to take time off anyway.”

Jason is working on a new project, a short film that features fellow General Hospital actor Bradford Anderson (“Spinelli”) and is seeking funding for this project. To read up on it and learn how to contribute, go here.
